The 53rd and 6th halal cart is “the famous one,” and I won’t disagree that it’s pretty darn tasty, especially when you’re operating on a well-liquored buzz.  I think my new favorite, though, is Tony “The Dragon” Dragonas’ halal cart, located on the SE corner of 62nd and Madison. Street food is not for the picky or the gourmand who insists on knowing exactly goes in his food—sometimes, it’s just better not to find out.  But something about Tony’s food seems more trustworthy than the lot.  For one thing, the white sauce is legit tsatziki sauce, not that ambiguous mayo/yogurt concoction peddled at most other street carts.  It tastes amazing on top of this huge grilled chicken breast.  Ask for extra so you can mix it up with the remaining yellow rice.  Heck, Tony even has some dressing to go for your salad—what other cart has that?
In addition to awesome souvlaki and burgers, there are also random things not listed on the menu: I saw some guy get a prosciutto sandwich here the other day. Go figure.
And all this for $6.50—can’t find a better deal than that.
