It seems a bit backwards to be going to eat at “a famous pizza place” in Amherst, Massachusetts, when we were coming from New York, but that’s what ended up happening as we settled into Antonio’s Pizza for lunch.  The place is apparently known for their endless varieties of toppings on their pies, ranging from classic to the strange (tortellini, anyone?).
Normally an eggplant fiend, I opted for the special of the day, the Giovanni, because all I saw were the words “avocado” and I was sold.  Not much of a flavor punch, and the slice could have used a little bit of heating up. Good enough to hold us over for the concert, though…
Hmm, I wonder what pizza would taste like if you subbed in mashed-up avocado paste in lieu of tomato sauce…
