Sukiyaki: a hot weather staple at my house, on nights when it is too hot to actually cook anything but we still want something more than just whipping out a bowl of milk and cereal. Even a non-beer drinker like myself will attest that it goes nicely with an ice cold beer.
Strange how while there are a lot of places serving shabu shabu in New York, I’ve only seen two or three restaurants with sukiyaki on the menu. Is it ‘cause everyone’s squeamish about the raw egg dipping?  No, but seriously, when’s the last time you heard of someone dying from salmonella from raw eggs?
